‘Margarita With A Straw’ bags best film award at Washington Fest


Kalki Koechlin’s recently released film, ‘Margarita With A Straw’ won the best feature film award at the Washington, DC International Film festival. Kalki who played the challenging role of a cerebral palsy patient in Sonali Bose’s film is highly delighted to be honoured.

She took to twitter to share the news, "And in Filmfest DC look who won best feature film! http://filmfestdc.org/ #MargaritaWithAStraw," Kalki tweeted.

The film was also premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before it saw the light of the day on April 17.

The movie was also screened at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, BFI London Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Margarita With A Straw’ revolves around the character Laila (played by Kalki) who is a cerebral palsy patient and how she fights everyday to do the normal activities in her life. It also stars Revathi as her mother and Sayani Gupta in prominent roles.

The film was highly appreciated by critics and audience applauded Kalki's performance.
