Rani Mukherji returns as a fierce cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in ‘Mardaani 2’. The teaser was unveiled and it sees Rani playing fierce cop.

The 38-second video saw a team of police officers entering into a building headed by Rani Mukerji. She is seen beating a man with a belt and said, "Ab tu kisi ladki ko haath laga ke dikha, tujhe itna maarungi ki teri twacha se teri umr ka pata nahi chalega."

Along with the teaser, the makers also released the first-look poster of ‘Mardaani 2’.

"The film will see a female cop fighting an evil person to end crimes against women. As we all know, Navratri stands for the victory of good over evil all over India. Whether it is Goddess Durga defeating the demon Mahishasura or Lord Rama's victory over Ravana, Navratri's significance is key to this asset launch. So, we decided to start the journey of Mardaani 2 on this auspicious occasion," Rani said about the teaser launch in a statement as reported by IANS.

Talking about the film, Rani earlier said in a statement, "Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Right since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I am sure that this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to them all. Gopi has written an extraordinary script that we all love and I can't wait to start shooting this film soon."

"Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain who has no empathy, no fear of God and is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I'm excited to find out who the actor will be," the actress added.

Director Gopi Puthran said, "Rani as Shivani will be seen in a massive showdown with a 21-year-old villain who is an embodiment of pure evil. He is a dangerous criminal who targets women."

The film has been shot extensively in Kota and Jaipur. Produced by Yash Raj Films and is slated to release on December 13.
