Manoj Kumar to withdraw case against SRK, Farah

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar who filed defamation case against superstar Shahrukh Khan and filmmaker Farah Khan has now decided to withdraw his case against the two as the case got no value and after repeated plea, the makers have not deleted the objectionable scene from the film, ‘Om Shanti Om’.

In ‘Om Shanti Om’, there was a scene where Shahrukh Khan mocked Manoj Kumar. Highly miffed, Manoj Kumar pleaded Shahrukh and Farah Khan to delete the scene from the movie but they paid no heed to his request and the film was released in Japan without deleting the scene.

"The film was released in Japan without deleting those scenes. I had forgiven them twice but not this time. They have disrespected me. They also face contempt of court as in 2008 the court had asked them to forever and from all prints and broadcast material, delete those scenes," "Manoj Kumar told PTI earlier.

But now the actor has decided to withdraw the case against them.

When asked why Manoj Kumar thought to withdraw the case, lawyer Rizwan Siddiqee said, "Despite all assurances and promises, Shah Rukh Khan failed to remove the objectionable scenes from the said film. In fact, the scenes were reproduced in the new prints released internationally. They didn't even show any remorse. As a result of which, my client who is a world renowned celebrity has decided to withdraw the case because it has failed in achieving the objective of bringing some sense of responsibility to Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan."

'Om Shanti Om' stars Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead. It was a joint venture by Shahrukh Khan and Eros International, directed by Farah Khan.
