Manoj Kumar back home from hospital; doing well


Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who was admitted to a suburban Mumbai hospital last month, is back home and is doing fine, sources close to him said.

The actor was admitted at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri after reporting blood pressure fluctuations, according to his son Kunal Goswami.

Sources close to his family said that the 78-year-old actor developed a swelling in the gall bladder and suffered from kidney stone. Manoj Kumar had suffered from stones and was treated in 2013. There were also reports that the ‘Kranti’ actor had severe backache issues.

While confirming hospitalization, the actor’s family members refused to divulge any details about his condition as they needed privacy.

The yesteryear star was hospitalised in November and stayed there for nearly two weeks, a source close to the family revealed. "He was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago. But now he is fine and at home," the sources said, without divulging the reason of his hospital stay.

The National Film Award winning actor is known for his films like ‘Himalaya Ki God Mein’, ‘Do Badan’, ‘Hariyali Aur Raasta’, ‘Patthar Ke Sanam’, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and ‘Purab Aur Paschim’ among others.

He is known for acting in and directing films with patriotic themes, and has been given the nickname ‘Bharat Kumar’. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1992.
