Mane course: SRK gets a new mop

Shahrukh KhanSporting a zany new hairdo with a tinge of brown, Shah Rukh Khan is trying to catch the last flight to London for daughter Sohana’s fourth birthday celebrations.

SRK is planning a five-month break from films to work on his back and spend time with...
...his children. “Working simultaneously for Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades and Yash Chopra’s yet untitled movie has been strenuous,” he confesses.

So, what prompted him to lend a dash of colour to his mop? “Since I am not shooting for the next five months, Dilshad Pastakia, my hairdresser, decided to go mad with my hair. Till my next film, I will have to make do with brown, blue, green, orange hair! So, when I return, people can say I’ve reinvented myself,” he quips.

Wit and attitude come easy to SRK. “Everyone wants to make films with me. So, shouldn’t I want to make a film with me?” he says when asked what prompted him to turn producer. His take on popular awards is as interesting. “I’ve gone past the stage of hoping, wishing or praying. If awards come, good for me. If they don’t, bad for them,” said Shah Rukh, in Singapore for the fifth IIFA Awards.

For Shah Rukh the actor, Main Hoon Na was “fun”. But Shah Rukh the producer is happier. “I’ve made lots of money with MHN and I won’t squander it making another film on the media (his jab at the failure of Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.)
Tell him that a section of movie buffs haven’t liked MHN, and he says: “As a young actor, I got miffed if anyone criticised my work. Now, I tell myself if someone doesn’t enjoy my film, he can go to hell.”
