Malayalam actress abduction: Dileep sent to 14 days judicial custody


In the famous Malayalam actress abduction and assault case, noted actor Dileep was sent to 14 days judicial custody on Tuesday morning.

Under heavy security, the actor was brought to the Magistrate house in Kochi. Thousands of media persons gathered the area to get a glimpse of Dileep as he stepped out of the police vehicle. While being taken to the prison, Dileep told the media, "I am not scared of anyone as I have not committed any crime."

Last week, Dileep, director Nadirshah along with the former's manager Appuni was grilled by police for 13 hours. Police had also carried a raid at Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan’s business premises.

Kerala DGP Loknath Behera said, “Dileep was arrested based on evidence collected by the probe team. The investigation is still on and more arrests cannot be ruled out.’’

Dileep’s arrest was also confirmed by the Chief Minister's office. They said that on the basis of strong new evidences received by the Kerala Police, the actor as sent to judicial custody. The actor is currently at Aluva Police Club.

"I am innocent and I will prove my innocence. I was trapped," the 48-year-old actor said this morning before he was taken to prison. His lawyers have sought bail.
