Mahima Chaudhry back on screen as a gangster

The ‘Pardes’ actress Mahima Chaudhry is back on silver screen after a long hiatus. She will play a small time actress turned gangster Archana Sharma. Mahima will have to gain weight for the movie.

Filmmaker Shashi Ranjan is working on the script. This untitled movie is an adaptation of S S Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' . "We are working on a biopic on Archana Sharma. She was a small time actress who had worked in a couple of Dev Anand films. It is a biopic on a small town girl who arrives in Mumbai to become actress and later takes to crime and turns into a gangster," said Ranjan.

The filmmaker thinks that the 39-year-old actress will fit to the role well. "We felt Mahima was perfect for the film. We have worked on her physical appearances. She had to gain weight of eight to ten kilos as she has to look plump in some portions of the film," Ranjan said.

The film also stars Rahul Dev, who will reportedly play the role of gangster Babloo Shrivastav. Sudhanshu Pandey and Govind Namdev will be seen in a pivotal role.

The director reveals that thirty percent of the film has been shot in Mumbai, Dubai and Nepal. The second schedule is set to begin in September. Shashi Ranjan is not just directing the film, but he is also producing it.  The film is slated to release in 2014.

Now-a-days biopic has been a subject of interest for the filmmakers. Rakesysh Om Prakash made ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ with Farhan Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making a film based on boxer Mary Kom with Priyanka Chopra and Irfan Khan played ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ in a biopic.
