Mahesh Bhatt, wife Soni Razdan, daughter Alia Bhatt get death threat


Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, his wife Soni Razdan and star daughter Alia Bhatt received death threat from an unidentified caller. The unknown individual demanded 50 lakhs. He threatened to kill threatened to kill his daughter Alia and wife, Soni Razdan if the amount was not paid to him.

FIR was lodged on Wednesday night and police recorded the statements of Mahesh Bhatt and his family members.

Now the case has been transferred to the Mumbai Police's Anti Extortion Cell (ANC), who will investigate the matter further along with other police departments.

Mumbai police sources said that Mahesh Bhatt received a phone call from an individual, who demanded 50 lakhs from the filmmaker.

Initially, Bhatt thought it was a prank but when the caller later sent him texts and WhatsApp messages and told him that not to take the threats lightly, it raised alarm.

He said if his instructions weren't followed, he would kill Bhatt, Alia and Soni. His exact words were: "If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets in your daughter Alia and wife Soni."

He continued to send a few more messages but later he stopped.

Bhatt was asked to deposit the money in a Lucknow-based bank branch. This incident took place late on the night of February 26.

Mahesh Bhatt immediately decided to inform the cops since the life of his wife and daughter are in danger.

The case was registered by Juhu police and transferred to the Anti Extortion Cell for further investigation.

A police officer told India Today exclusively, "A case is registered under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion.)"

Security of the Bhatts had been beefed up. Two years ago, the Bhatt’s family received death threats from a certain D gang.
