Maharashtra CM’s wife Amruta sings for 'Jai Gangaajal'

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta has ventured into Bollywood and will debut as a singer in Prakash Jha’s upcoming film ‘Jai Gangaajal’.

According to a report in Times of India, Amruta has already recorded a song for Kunal Kholi’s upcoming love story ‘Phir Se’. She will be heared singing a devotional number in the Priyanka Chopra starrer action drama.

Talking about getting Amruta to sing for his project, Prakash Jha told the daily, "I heard the song she had sung for Kunal Kohli and liked her voice. It's lovely, silky and very deep, I felt it was just what our devotional song, ‘Sab dhan maati’, required so I asked my composers, Salim-Sulaiman, to try her out. They liked her too and we recorded the track last month in two sessions over a couple of hours."

He further said that Amruta was a pleasure to work with and had no airs about herself. After recording the song, the composers wanted to re-dub some portions. Amruta came back to the studio without any fuss and completed the job, the director added.

‘Jai Gangaajal’ features Priyanka in the role of a no-nonsense cop Abha Mathur. Praksh Jha also plays a pivotal role in the film as Deputy Superintendent of Police B P Singh. The film has as many as 12 songs and all of them play in the background. Amruta’s song forms a part of a sequence which features Prakash Jha himself.

Last month there were also reports that Amruta will make a singing debut with a Marathi film.

‘Jai Gangaajal’ which is a sequel of the director’s 2003 hit film ‘Gangaajal’ starring Ajay Devgn, is slated to hit theatres on March 4.
