‘Mahabharat’, 'Baghban' director Ravi Chopra dies at 68

Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Ravi Chopra died around 3:30 pm on Wednesday. He was 68. A few days ago, he was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. He succumbed to death after a long battle with lung cancer.

Ravi Chopra hails from renowned Chopra family. He is the son of filmmaker BR Chopra and late filmmaker Yash Chopra was his uncle. Aditya and Yash Chopra who heads Yash Raj Films are his cousins.  Known for popular films such as 'Zameer' (1975), 'The Burning Train' (1980), 'Mazdoor' (1983), 'Dahleez' (1986), 'Baghban' (2003) and 'Baabul' (2006), Chopra was previously hospitalized in 2012 with lung ailment but he quickly recovered.

"He passed away today at around 3:30 pm. His funeral most probably will take place tomorrow at around 11," a source close to Ravi Chopra's family said.

Ravi Chopra also directed hit TV serial Mahabharata, produced by his father BR Chopra. He produced movies like ‘Bhoothnath’ and ‘Bhoothnath Returns’, starring Amitabh Bachchan.
