Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Madamji’ starring Priyanka not shelved

Contrary to rumours that Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming project ‘Madamji’ with Priyanka Chopra has been shelved, the three-time National Award winning director has confirmed that the film was very much on the cards.

Earlier, reports suggested that Madhur was upset with his ‘Fashion’ actress for not giving him dates, and Priyanka lost interest in the film as it had striking similarity with Mallika Sherawat starrer ‘Dirty Politics’ which released in March.

However, Mudhur rubbished the reports and insisted that all was well between him and Priyanka. “The equation between Priyanka and me has not changed one bit. We are still on the same page with regard to our next film together, ‘Madamji’,” he told in an interview with BollywoodLife.

He denied that he shelved the film after ‘Dirty Politics’ released and said, "Madamji is going to be amazing. It is about an item girl who makes a foray into politics. I have added a lot of references from real UP politics."

The director that said the film got delayed as he was re-working on the script and also because Priyanka was busy with her other projects. “The reason the film got postponed was because PC was busy with Quantico shoots and was constantly shuttling between Mumbai and Los Angeles. Even I was busy with ‘Calendar Girls’, so we couldn't start the film," he said.

He further added. "I need Priyanka's dates at a stretch because I want to finish this film at one go, in a proper sequence. Priyanka could not give me dates and therefore, I rescheduled this project."

Priyanka who is currently busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will be co-producing the film.
