Lovebirds Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath

Lovebirds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visited Varanasi for the shooting of their upcoming film, 'Brahmastra' and they offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath. A picture of the two posing with fans outside the temple is being circulated on social media. The couple was in the city for the shooting of ‘Brahmastra’, Ayan Mukherji’s fantasy trilogy.

Ranbir’s forehead was smeared with chandan (sandalwood) while Alia was dressed in a simple yellow salwar kameez and stood beside him surrounded by fans.

‘Brahmastra’ is taking Ranbir and Alia to different locations. A few weeks ago, Ranbir and Alia were seen at Ramnagar Fort and Chet Singh Fort in Varanasi for the shoot. Alia wore a white kurta with a red scarf wrapped around her wrist while Ranbir was dressed in complete black.

According to reports, Ranbir and Alia’s 20-day schedule in Varanasi included the Ramnagar Fort and Chet Singh Fort.

In April, Ayan went to Varanasi for a recce and shared pictures from the city. "My attempt with the Brahmastra Trilogy to feature different places of India, and attempt to capture its infinite beauty," he wrote.

The filmmaker had earlier called Ranbir and Alia's love the "guiding light" of 'Brahmastra'. Sharing a throwback picture of the couple at a VFX studio, he wrote, "Ranbir and Alia needed to work as one unit and that relationship was more important than their individual characters because at its heart, our movie is a love story. There has been a lot of love since then..."

The release date of 'Brahmastra' has pushed forward to 2020. "Our release date is now slated for summer 2020 but we will announce this once we are absolutely certain of the date. I believe that the extra time going into making the movie is essential to achieve the dream of Brahmastra, and I really hope we make up for the delay by giving our movie-loving country something they can really love and feel proud of," the director said in a statement.
