‘Lingaa’ set to release tomorrow after makers deposit 10 crore in court

Rajinikanth’s starrer ‘Lingaa’ was mired with plagiarism charges not once but twice and there raised a big question mark regarding the release date of the film but finally the court passed order in favour of the film but with a fine of Rs 10 crore as guarentee. Madras High court ordered the makers of ‘Lingaa’ to pay a fine of Rs 10 crore. The amount will be paid to the court by 12 pm tomorrow. Thereby the film will be released on the scheduled date.

The producer of ‘Lingaa’ Rockline Venkatesh said that he will abide by the court order and release the film as scheduled tomorrow. The producer will deposit Rs 5 crore in cash in an Indian Bank branch and give a bank guarantee for the balance amount through the court Registry before tomorrow noon and then the film will be released at 1 a.m. tomorrow.

Rajinikanth told the press, "One week before the release of this film, some four-five people came and claimed that the subject, the story is theirs. To this a couple of people commented on Twitter that if there is a Rajini film that actually has a story, then we must see it! It is a beautiful story but it does not belong to those four people. It belongs to (writer) Pon Kumaran. He has taken inspiration. I liked it a lot. In my career, to get such a subject, I consider myself lucky." Lingaa, co-starring Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, has been accused of plagiarism by filmmaker K R Ravi Rathinam who alleges that the makers of Lingaa stole the storyline from the script he wrote for a film titled Mullai Vanam 999. On December 3, a High Court judge dismissed Mr Rathinam's writ petition and advised him to file civil or criminal proceedings instead.

‘Lingaa’ directed by K S Ravikumar stars Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty opposite the south superstar Rajinikanth. AR Rahman composed the music of the film. The film will be released in three languages Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Pon Kumaran scripted the project.

Well, it will be great treat for Rajini’s fans as after all hurdles the film will finally see the light of the day on the megastar’s 63rd birthday.
