Like Deepika, Ranveer Singh too suffered depression

Deepika Padukkone recently revealed about an unpleasant part of her life. There was a time in 2014, when the actress was suffering from depression. However, she was enjoying all the stardom she ever dreamed of. Deepika had had three successful films back to back- first ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, followed by the super hit ‘Chennai Express’ and then ‘Ram-Leela’. But despite of such a good career, she was struck by mental illness. Now a whole new dimension has been added to this new story. According to latest reports, Deepika’s lover boy Ranveer Singh was also suffering from depression around the same time.

Deepika had explained to the media how she was suffering from depression during the shooting of ‘Happy New Year’, “Every morning, it was a struggle to wake up, and shoot for Happy New Year's climax... Most of HNY was shot through this phase. But before starting my next with Shoojit Sircar, I took a two-month break to recover mentally and physically. I spent time with my family in Bengaluru and was soon better. But, when I returned to Mumbai, I heard about a friend committing suicide due to anxiety and depression. It was a huge blow.”

Now it has been revealed that the friend Deepika was talking about was none other than Ranveer’s friend. Ranveer’s friend had put up a Facebook status, saying that he was soon going to commit suicide. Before any family or friend could help him, it was too late and he had shot himself. This had a deep impact on Ranveer and he suffered from mixed feelings of sadness and guilt.

A source told the media, “Ranveer doesn't like to show his emotions in public, but people close to him, especially Deepika knew that this tragedy had hit him hard.” Following this incident, Ranveer suffered from feelings of guilt and sadness. It is even said that he went to a therapist for help.

Yet another twist in the story is Ranveer’s latest claims. He retorted back on the morning of 10th February and denied all these rumours of his depression. He targeted a leading daily saying, “Yo @dna @TusharrJoshi @SaritaTanwar ... That was uncool, uncalled for and an outright disrespectful imposition.” This was followed by a long post in which Ranveer expressed his disappointment. The post ended with, “Appallingly unethical! Classic case of utterly IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM. Is there any accountability? Or is the power of the pen now the terror of the pen?”
