Kishore Kumar’s 86th birth anniversary: Son Amit pays song tribute ‘Baba Mere’


Legendary singer and actor Kishore Kumar has given the Indian film Industry innumerous evergreen and timeless songs that are popular even today. Born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly on August 4, 1929,  Kishore-da, as he is fondly called is being remembered on his 86th birth anniversary.

Kishore’s son Amit Kumar on the occasion released a video song titled ‘Baba Mere’ commemorating him on YouTube. The song also features Muktika Ganguly, Amit’s daughter and Kishore’s grand-daughter.

The song has been produced by Kumar Brothers Music (KBM) a label which is an attempt by Amit to keep his father’s musical legacy alive.

“With my label, I want to promote good music. Talented music directors who want to compose great music will be welcomed. I will keep on trying to work so that the legacy that my father left behind, should go ahead,” Amit said.

Meanwhile, B-towners also remembered the multi-faceted talent.

Amitabh Bachchan for whom Kishore sang many hit songs like ‘Yeh dosti’ (Sholay), ‘Dekha ek khwab’ (Silsila), ‘Meet na mila re’ (Abhimaan), ‘Are deewano’(Don) ....and many more paid tribute to the immortal singer. He wrote on his Twitter handle, “Birthday Anniversary of the maestro Kishore Kumar...his versatility was unmatched.”

Actress Shabana Azmi, tweeted, “@FansofNandy I've been a Rafi fan but Javed sensitised me to the magic of Kishore Kumar's amazing talent. Mere naina saawan bhado. Mar Jana!”

Jaaved Jaaferi wrote, “Missing the great Kishore Kumar on his birthday..Musaafir hoon yaaro.”

Several other celebrities including Kabir Bedi, Vishal Dadlani, Kunal Kholi,Sujoy Ghosh among others remembered the great singer and paid their respects.
