‘Ki & Ka’ mints Rs. 32.03 cr till day 5 in domestic box office

Last week’s release ‘Ki & Ka’ garnered Rs. 37.48 crores on its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, showed an overall terrific run in the weekdays.

Although the occupancy level dropped by 50% on Monday, the movie minted an amount of Rs. 3.54 crores and raked in another Rs. 3.26 crores (approximate) on Tuesday. With this, the five-day total domestic box office collection of ‘Ki & Ka’ is pegged at Rs. 32.03 crores (approx.).

Earlier, the movie starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor became the third highest opening weekend grosser of 2016 by collecting Rs. 25.23 crores at domestic box office. It included Rs. 7.30 crores of opening day on Friday, Rs. 8.41 crores of Saturday and Rs. 9.52 crores of Sunday.

The film’s first weekend business at the overseas market was recorded at Rs. 12.25 crores.

‘Ki & Ka’ left behind Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghayal Once Again’ to take the third position as highest grosser of the year and follows Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ which occupies the first position, and family drama ‘Kapoor & Sons’ in the second.

The movie was released in 1650 screens across India and in 500 screens in the overseas market.

Directed by R Balki, ‘Ki & Ka’ is an unconventional film where the husband plays the homemaker and the wife is the chief breadwinner. The film speaks about gender equality and attempts to break stereotypes.

Besides Kareena and Arjun, the film also casts Swaroop Sampat and Rajit Kapur, while Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan make cameo appearances.
