Grand opening of KBC 6 by Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan would be launching KBC season 6 tonight. KBC and Amitabh have become synonymous. The show will start with Big B reciting a poem.

The poem reads as:  ‘Na Roop Kaam Aata Hai, Na Jhoot Kaam Aata Hai, Na Jaati kaam Aati Hai Na Baap Ka Naam Kaam Aata Hai, Sirf Gyann Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai.’

The poem proves the point that knowledge is above everything. It is with knowledge that a human being can achieve greater heights in life.

Big B will also be sharing the stage with the top four Indian Idol contestants Vipul Mehta, Amit, Devendra and Poorvi. Amitabh will also lend voice to a special composition of ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ along with these contestants. Amitabh has already sung the song in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani’. The special composition has been prepared by the musician duo of Salim-Sulaiman.

The host will then be joined by Neil Nongkynrih, the founder and conductor of Shillong Chamber Choir. The choir will redeem a beautiful medley to wow the audiences. About which Big B has said in his blog, “By far, the most delightful moment of the day was meeting and seeing the Shillong Choir, a young group of boys and girls from the North East, performing some wonderful renditions of ... ahah ... cannot disclose all that just yet, songs.”

Dancer and Choreographer Remo D’Souza has been roped in to perform a rending performance. He and his troupe will put up a special UV act with an array of Bollywood songs.

The first contestant to take the hot seat this year will be Kanwar Singh from Amritsar. Kanwar is said to have made a video, showing his attachment for Amitabh and the show.  He has aptly named that ‘Aapki Baath, Apke Saath’.

In recent years there has been a trend of superstars of Bollywood making it to the small screen. The latest being Amir Khan in ‘Satyamev Jayate’. ‘Satyamev Jayate’ opening episode came close to 3 TVR ratings but not close enough. But none have been able to match the hype of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. The show which also resurrected Amitabh’s career has a massive fan following.  Reportedly its being said that Amitabh has been paid a whooping amount of 140 crores for next three editions of KBC.

KBC 6 would be a three-day show as opposed to KBC 5, which was a four-day show. Plus KBC 6 is coming on weekends, not weekdays.

The show will go on air tonight at 8.30 pm on Sony Entertainment television.
