Katrina plays a Pakistani doctor in 'Phantom'

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was seen dressed in a Pakistani style salwar-suit in the town of Malerkotla, Punjab. Katrina and Saif Ali Khan were spotted shooting for Kabir Khan’s upcoming movie, ‘Phantom’.

The film unit converted a market lane of the small town to look like a Pakistani market. The old markets of Malerkotla, Moti Bazaar and Daana Mandi had been cleaned up, and signboards of some shops had been replaced with Urdu ones, to give it a look of a bustling Pakistani market. Katrina and Saif appeared in traditional clothes. The shooting later reportedly moved to Chandigarh.

The team shot in a school in the Sector 45 and changed the name to Government Islamia High School (Misri Shah, Lahore).

Katrina was seen in a salwar-suit and the media buzz is that she is playing a Pakistani doctor in the film. Inside the school building, the picture was that of a medical camp.

According to reports, the film depicts the post 26/11 scenario and global terrorism. And a source said that things were being done according to the script’s demand, which has scenes showing Pakistan. “We had no option but to do this,” a source was quoted.

Sources also said the scenes were shot in Punjab to highlight the troubles of the secret agents, trying to flee to the rural belt of Pakistan to stay away from the Pak police catching them. “Saif as well as Katrina have taken lessons in Arabic and Persian for the movie,” a source reportedly said.

The film was earlier shot in Beirut, Lebanon, with Saif. The pictures posted by Saif showed Katrina in a rugged look, as she appeared in military pants along with sports shoes. Her glam- looks was intact, despite the dirty long hair and the grease on her face. The promo, with Katrina’s rugged looks reportedly went viral.

Reportedly ‘Phantom’ is a counter-terrorism drama film directed by Kabir Khan, and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The music of the film is done by Pritam Chakraborty.

The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 2.

Katrina began her career as a model and first expressed her interests at age 14, when she won a beauty contest in Hawaii. She got her first assignment as a model in a jewellery campaign. After her successful modelling stint, she made her acting debut in Bollywood with a role in Kaizad Gustad’s ‘Boom’.
