No longer lovers, Ranbir and Katrina are now legally married

Supreme court has released a statement that would affect millions of people. But the ones to get the most attention would be obviously Bollywood couples. The court has declared that a man and woman who have been living together would be considered legally married in India even though they are not wed. Now in this context, the couple to gain the most attention is of course Katrina Kaif- Ranbir Kapoor. The actor doesn’t live with his family, he rather lives with Katrina. The love that started during ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahan’ bloomed and the two ended up moving in together. It was in 2013 that they were seen together on several occasions. They have been living in a Bandra apartment that faces the sea, since November 2014.

Here is the statement by Supreme Court, “It is well settled that the law presumes in favour of marriage and against concubinage, when a man and woman have cohabited continuously for a long time. However, the presumption can be rebutted by leading unimpeachable evidence. A heavy burden lies on a party who seeks to deprive the relationship of legal origin. Where a man and woman are proved to have lived together as husband and wife, the law will presume, unless the contrary is clearly proved, that they were living together in consequence of a valid marriage, and not in a state of concubinage.”

The fact that Katrina and Ranbir are serious about their relationship is no secret and even one Kapoor has revealed a lot about this. Rishi Kapoor had shared painful facts about his bond with Ranbir. He had shared that things were not well in their family since Ranbir’s got into the love stuff. It was rather shocking to hear that “It’s like there’s this glass wall, we can see each other, we can talk, but that’s it. He doesn’t live with us anymore, which is also a very big setback to Neetu and me.”

But Rishi said that he understands, “My father gave me space when I moved out after marriage and I give Ranbir his space too when he decided to move out and share a home with his girlfriend. In this house, he had one room: how could that be enough for a 33-year-old boy?” He further said, “We’re building a new home where there will be a lot of place for him and his family. Till then, life goes on.”
