Karisma-Sunjay’s divorce: Karisma gets kids’ custody


Karisma Kapoor gets the right of children custody and her estranged husband Sunjay Kapoor will get the visitation right. After a long divorce battle, Karisma Kapoor and her estranged husband Sunjay Kapur have come to an agreement on modalities before the Supreme Court.

According to the agreement, their two kids Samaira and Kiaan would remain with the actress. Karisma will get maintenance from Sunjay and the Mumbai house of Sanjay Kapoor's father has been transferred in the name of Karisma Kapoor.

The Supreme Court has also quashed the FIR lodged by Karisma against Sunjay and her in-laws.

In 2014, Karisma and her husband Sunjay filed for mutual divorce petition but later Karisma

Kapoor withdrawn the divorce petition following difference with Sunjay over the financial settlement as well as the children’s custody.

In February, 2016 The Supreme Court asks the respective lawyers of Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapoor if the estranged couple could settle the divorce case amicably.

Speaking to mid-day, Karisma’s lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani said, “The court asked if the parties can settle the matter. I said, yes there had been a settlement already, but they (Sunjay) backed out. They (Sunjay’s lawyers) said they are still willing to settle. The court then called us in the chamber and said let’s try and settle the matter.”

He added, “The Supreme Court suggested the settlement and is monitoring it. Both the parties are in agreement.”
