Sunjay is a third class man, I never wanted Karisma to marry him

Actor Randhir Kapoor has hit back at Sunjay Kapur, estranged husband of his daughter actress Karishma Kapoor, for claiming that she married him for money.

The latest divorce petition filed by Sunjay’s lawyer alleges that the actress married the Delhi-based businessman "in a calculated and clinical manner to pursue a lavish lifestyle", according to a Mumbai Mirror report. Karishma and Sunjay have been fighting for a divorce for the past couple of years and the legal battle is getting murkier by the day.

The petition further alleges that Karisma married Sunjay as a rebound after her break up with Abhishek Bachchan and accused her of "failing as a wife, daughter-in-law and as a mother". It also mentioned that she tried to portray him as a substance abuser, an alcoholic and a cheating husband, even as she had an affair, as per the tabloid.

Taking offence to these allegations, Randhir Kapoor slammed Sunjay calling him a “third class man” and said he was always against Karishma marrying him. "Everyone knows our credentials. We are Kapoors. We don’t need to run after anyone’s money. We have been blessed with not only money, but our talent can support us for the rest of our lives," he told The Hindustan Times.

"Sunjay is a third class man. I never wanted Karisma marrying him. He has debauchery in his system and never cared for his wife. He has been giving bull**** to her, and living with another woman. The entire Delhi knows how he is. I would not like to say anything more than this," he added.

The HT report also quoted Karisma’s lawyer Kranti Sathe denying the allegations made in Sunjay’s petition. “The allegations against Karisma are all false. We shall soon give a reply, but the onus is on Sunjay to prove these allegations in the court,” she said.

Karishma and Sunjay tied the knot in September 2003. The couple has two kids – daughter Samaira aged 10 and son Kiaan who is six years old.
