Karishma Tanna reveals her role in Sanjay Dutt biopic
Actress and ‘Bigg Boss 8’ finalist Karishma Tanna has been roped in to be a part of Sanjay Dutt biopic, starring an ensemble cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala and Paresh Rawal.
According to reports, Karishma will play one of the real-life love interests of Sanjay Dutt. The actress has already shot for her portion in the film over a three-day schedule. Speaking about her role, Karishma told The Indianexpress, "I am doing a guest appearance. I am sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor, but I am not exactly playing Sanjay Dutt's love interest, I am one of his encounters...”
“It's just a cameo but I would take my role as important as it is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt, so whatever is important in his life is being shown in the film," Karishma added.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the yet-untitled biopic is a collaborative project between both Hirani and Sanjay Dutt’s production houses. The movie will showcase most of the aspects of Sanjay's life - from his meteoric rise to stardom to his downfall post his Arms controversy and his come-back. However, buzz is that it will not touch on any of the controversies, including drug abuse and jail terms. Rather, it will focus on his family and love.
The film will have Paresh Rawal and Manisha playing the roles of Sanjay Dutt’s parents – Sunil Dutt and Nargis, while Dia Mirza will play his wife Maanyata. Sonam will reportedly play Madhuri Dixit, whom Sanjay Dutt once dated, while Anushka will be seen in the role of a journalist.
The movie went on floors in January and is scheduled to release during Christmas season this year.
