Kareena to be the showstopper at LFW

Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor will be the star attraction at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer Resort 2014. The LFW show, which begins on March 12, will see Kareena walking the ramp in Rajesh Pratap Singh’s new collection.

“Yes, this year, too, Kareena, being the brand ambassador of Lakme, will be walking the ramp for the finale. She is quite excited about it,” Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovations (Lakme), said.

“Being the brand ambassador, Kareena is involved creatively in some areas for the finale. She gives ideas, suggestions on various things like her eye makeup etc,” she said.

“We have a mix of newcomers and established designers. This season we are infusing magic of colour and light with the Lakme Absolute Color Illusion range that spells mystery with strokes of metallic shades. We are planning something big and different for the Finale,” Lamba said.

Singh is very excited to show his collection at the grand finale designer inspired by Lakme Absolute Color Illusion.

“I am really looking forward to the finale. The collection will be a magnificent interplay of light and colour through make-up and outfits that represent my signature style of simplistic cuts and flawless detailing,” he said.

“I had not met her at any time. My focus would be to keep her looks following the essence of the show that spells mystery with each stroke of cool metallic shades,” he added.

The LFW will see famous designers, such as Manish Malhotra and Neeta Lulla, with their collections on the ramp.

Lulla is all enthusiastic to showcase her designs inspired by street-wear.

“My collection will be an Indo-western blend which is inspired from street-wear. It’s a very trendy collection,” she said.

The event this season will see Anita Dogre as mentor for the Gen Next show, which involves promoting new talents.

This season’s LFW will see 23 new designers, including TV host and actress Mandira Bedi.

“I am excited that I got a chance to showcase my collection. I am nervous since it’s the first time that I will present my collection on a big platform like LFW here. We will have light, regular sarees and go with summery colours,” Mandira told a news agency. She launched a store with
a great collection of sarees last year.

UK-based accessories designer Mawi Keivom will also debut at the show.

The event will continue till March 16, featuring Manish Malhotra as the head designer.
