Kareena Kapoor's ‘Veere Di Wedding’ in trouble as Balaji backs out?
Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer upcoming film seems to be in trouble, with co-producer Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Motion Pictures backing out of the project. The film was supposed to go on floors this month.
Balaji’s latest production ‘A Flying Jatt’ starring Tiger Shroff could not do well at the box-office and as a result, the company suffered a major setback. Following this, the production house has decided to put a hold on its film production wing until they come up with a suitable business model.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the primary producer of the film Anil Kapoor has approached Eros to come on board for co-producing the chick flick at the asking rate of Rs 32 crore, but Eros feels that that the amount is a bit high for an all-girl-starrer film.
Moreover, Kareena, who is pregnant, is looking to complete her part of the schedule as soon as possible before going on maternity leave. She will shoot for the major portions in March next year after delivering the baby which is due in December.
Anil Kapoor’s office has told the portal that despite the setbacks, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ is very much on track.
Meanwhile, another website quoted Balaji CEO Sameer Nair as saying that they are not leaving the project “The budget discussions are going on and the pre-production work has started. We are definitely doing the film,” the CEO said.
