Kapil Sharma gets ultimatum from Sony TV to spruce up his show

As a repercussion to the infamous spat between comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover, the channel, Sony TV has apparently given an ultimatum to Kapil to put the show back on track. The TRP ratings of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has taken a nosedive, so much that the show is out of top 10 shows.

After Kapil assaulted Sunil, who plays the role of Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Devi on the show, other actors including Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Sugandha Mishra have also boycotted the show and haven’t turned up for shooting ever since the team returned from their Australian tour. Kapil has been managing the show by roping in new members, including Raju Shrivastav.

Kapil’s contract with Sony TV is about to expire in less than two weeks and the channel was due to renew the Rs 105 crore deal this month. However, the channel has extended the contract for another month and has asked Kapil to turn things around within the given time, or quit, according to a report in The Times of India.

Kapil had apologised to Sunil after their in-flight brawl came out in the open and was pretty confident of getting him back on the show. There have been reports that Sunil was even offered a whopping amount of money to return, but he chose to play his famous characters of Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi on different shows and stage performances.

Meanwhile, Sunil has been refraining from speaking anything about returning on the show or his future course of action.
