Kangana to appear alongside Hugh Grant in Ketan Mehta’s next

Kangana Ranaut is certainly the ‘it’ girl of Bollywood. The actress whose double whammy in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ swept away audience, is all set to essay the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai, the Queen of Jhansi.

The Indo-British Venture to be directed by Ketan Mehta will also star British Hugh Grant in the role of General Hugh Rose, according to reports.

The National Award winning actress was apparently impressed with the script and has agreed to do the film. She has already begun rigorous training in sword-fighting and other skills required to play the legendary warrior queen.

Rani Lakshmi Bai was one of the leading figures of India’s first war of Independence that begun in 1857. She fought the British forces led by Sir Hugh Rose in defence of her kingdom Jhansi.

The biopic will go on floors next year and will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and English, as per reports.

Kangana seems to be at the peak of her career. Her 2014 film ‘Queen’ was critically acclaimed as well as commercially very successful while ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ also made it to the elite Rs 100 crore club. She will be next seen in Nikhil Advani’s ‘Katti Batti’ opposite Imran Khan, which is set to hit screens on September 18.
