Paid for one actress role in 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', Kangana

Bollywood ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut is ecstatic after her last film ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ became a huge success. She played a double role in the sequel to the 2011 film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. The film also featured R Madhavan in the lead role.

There were rumours that post her successful films like ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, the actress has started demanding a hike in her payment. When posed with a question about this, she said with a jocular tone, “The film has done big numbers worldwide. I did two actress' work and got paid only for one actress' salary.”

The actress is now pushing herself towards more. “I have started expecting more from myself. To render strong roles consistently can be draining, and now, I feel the question ‘What next?’ looming large. To evolve into the next level of cinema needs the support of strong scripts and visionary filmmakers. So let's see what kind of scripts come my way or I might get into direction,” Kangana was quoted as saying.

In fact, Kangana has even directed the first seven minutes of her upcoming film ‘Katti Batti’ by Nikhil Advani and starring Imran Khan.

“It was a seven-minute uncut sequence. I had to shoot it by holding the camera in my hands which was the demand of the script. It was nerve-racking, but actors can do anything for a director who shows trust and faith in their abilities. Nikhil is one such director,” the actress said in a statement.

As of now, she has in her kitty Hansal Mehta’s film ‘Simran’ and Vishal Bhardwaj’s film titled ‘Rangoon’.
