In an interview, the ‘Sadma’ actor said that his decision for not accepting the offer has nothing to do with the role of an antagonist.  “I wouldn’t have been part of this film under any circumstance, and it’s got nothing to do with the role being a negative one. I’ve played negative roles a number of times,” the actor said.

The real reason, Kamal Haasan explained, was that he was apprehensive that the film’s budget and scale may not be able to handle both him and Rajinikanth together in one film. Besides, the two doyens of Tamil cinema have a pact between themselves, which made Kamal Haasan bow out of the project.

“Rajiniji and I have a pact. Whenever we do another film together it’d have to be produced by either me or him. It’s the only way to ensure we do not displease our fans,” the actor who is currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Sabaash Naidu’.

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have in the past worked together for several films like ‘Geraftaar’ (Hindi), ‘Thaputhalangal’ (Tamil), ‘Vayasu Pilichindhi’ (Telugu), ‘Moonru Mudichu’ (Tamil), ‘Avargal’ (Tamil) and others.
