Kamal Haasan denies issuing any statement on his split with Gautami
Veteran actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan has denied making any statement about his split with Gautami Tadimalla, after an explanation over the couple’s separation, in the actor’s name, did the rounds of social media.
The actor took to Twitter on Wednesday to clear the air. In an apparent reference to the split, Kamal Haasan tweeted in Tamil saying, "At this point of time, I am not issuing any statement. It is indecent that someone is playing by issuing a statement in my name."
A couple of days ago, Gautami announced that she and Kamal Haasan have parted ways. In her personal blog post titled ‘Life and decisions’, Gautami wrote, “It is heartbreaking for me to have to say today that I and Mr. Haasan are no longer together. After almost 13 years together, it has been one of the most devastating decisions that I have ever had to make in my life.”
Thereafter, reports started circulating about Kamal Haasan’s reaction to the split which quoted the ‘Shabash Naidu’ actor as saying, “Whatever gives her (Gautami) comfort and solace is fine by me. My feelings at the moment are of no importance. What matters is that Gautami and Subbu (her daughter from an earlier marriage) should be comfortable and happy."
Gautami and Kamal, who have starred together in films like ‘Aboorva Sagotharargal’, ‘Thevar Magan’ and the recent ‘Papanasam’, have been in a live-in relationship since 2005. The couple refused to marry each other as they lacked faith in the institution of marriage.
Gautami was previously married to a businessman named Sandeep Bhatia, and the duo has a teenage daughter Subbalakshmi.
