Kamal Haasan trolled for ‘insensitive’ tweet on Jayalalithaa’s demise

Several celebrities from the Indian film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Mahesh Babu, joined the nation to condole the death of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. But Kamal Haasan’s tweet on the demise of the actress-turned-politician didn’t go down well with some persons who accused the actor of being ‘insensitive’.

Jayalalithaa, 68, breathed her last on Monday night at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital, where she had been ailing for over two months. Kamal Haasan tweeted a condolence message in Tamil without mentioning her name. The tweet roughly translated to, “Deepest sympathies for all those who depended on her.” But it earned him the wrath of a section of twitteratis.

It is said that Kamal Haasan and Jayalalithaa had a fall out in 2013 after her government banned his film ‘Vishwaroopam’ to “maintain law and order in the state.” He had also criticised her government for failing to provide adequate relief measures during the Chennai floods in December last year.

Criticising the actor, one user wrote, [email protected] what's the point in being well learned if there is no decency. Shame I used to be a fan of yours.” Another user insync with the tweet wrote, [email protected] @ikamalhaasan exactly, basic manners should be there, hatred after death doesn't look good for the common man, @ikamalhaasan.”

[email protected] he never respect people sadist fellow Komali @ikamalhaasan,” another wrote.

Some other tweet read, [email protected] youre exponentially becoming a bigger embarassment almost everytime you air an opinion.”

[email protected] ur not a great artist u just a self concerend person who lack heart and humanity.”

[email protected] You should have kept quiet instead of this bullshit tweet.”

However, there were other users who came in defence of the ‘Sabaash Naidu’ actor. One twitterati wrote, [email protected] Honestly, what do you expect of him. Throw a fake cry face. Always remember that everyone has a different way to express.”

[email protected] @ikamalhaasan Thers nothing wrong in what sir has said don't bring unnecessary dirt.” [email protected] @ikamalhaasan doesn't matter if u not being his fan he have many.......not able to see anything wrong with his statement,” other users wrote.
