Kajol and Karan Johar burying the hatchet?

In the film industry, friendships are formed everyday and old ones are also broken. Even very close friends fall out suddenly, the best example being Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. For the last few months, a similar thing was happening between producer director Karan Johar and acclaimed actress Kajol. The two of them share an almost two decade old friendship and has worked together in successful films like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’. But their relationship turned frosty few months back and they stopped talking.

They even avoided each other at a public event back in August.  But luckily a silver lining in the clouds has been seen. At a recent inauguration of a new hospital in Mumbai, the two were seen sitting next to each other.  A source present at the event informs, “They were talking cordially to each other, almost six months after their fallout. The obvious discomfort between them at various events earlier wasn’t there at this programme. Before it began, Kajol was smiling, probably at some of Karan’s jokes.” This is obviously welcome news for fans and people from the industry as well. Now all eyes will be on them to see what is next. Hopefully the two Bollywood stalwarts will be able to save their friendship.

Back in August, the two of them were attending a show by common friend, designer Manish Malhotra. An eyewitness present at the show had revealed, "They sat far apart and didn't even acknowledge each other's presence when all the other guests were greeting each other." The source had also added, "Kajol arrived before Karan and they even entered through different gates." Also in an interview, Karan Johar refused to comment on Kajol, leading to more gossip and speculation about the rift between them.

While the reason for the clash was not totally clear, it possibly involved Karan’s not so friendly relationship with Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn. The two also reportedly had a telephonic argument. Some industry insiders had claimed that both of them were instigated by third parties and industry rumours played a big part in their misunderstanding. But none of them has ever spoken about it in public. When asked about Karan Johar and Kajol in an interview in July, Ajay Devgn said,   “I don't know, that's between them. With Karan my equation has been the same, we were never too friendly."
