John had earlier said in a statement, "It's time to embark on a journey to revisit the mission that changed the place of India on the world map and turning the course of modern India's position in the world as a strong nuclear state."

This was the first nuclear test carried out by India under the governance of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpaee and the test was headed by Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha.

The film went on floors in May this year.

John who is also the co-producer, sounded delighted as he shared, “Parmanu is an ode to the army and scientists, who although ordinary people, truly accomplished extraordinary feats in the face of adversity to ensure that India finds its due place on the world nuclear map. It is a powerful human story of ordinary citizens who changed the trajectory of the country. It is so special to me because it combines all the aspects of film making that really speak to me – a thrilling edge of the seat plotline.”

Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment said, “What we truly want to achieve through this film is pride for our true heroes-. Jai Jawan, Jai Vigyan! For us at KriArj, Parmanu is partly a dream and partly a need to remind the people of India of the unsung heroes behind our nuclear prowess- our army and our scientists. After Rustom, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, this film is yet another step in our journey to make good, engaging cinema that is not just entertaining but also evokes pride in our country. Despite the ambitious project, in terms of recreating India of the 90s, we are glad that we are completely on schedule for December 8th release of this edge-of-the-seat thriller.”

The film also stars Diana Penty, who at present is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Lucknow Central’, also starring Farhan Akhtar.
