‘Jazbaa’ mints Rs 21.58 cr in its first week; gathers Rs 11 cr overseas


Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s come back vehicle ‘Jazbaa’ has minted Rs 21.58 crores after its week-long journey at the domestic box office. The thriller which made Rs 4.23 crore on its opening day collected another 11.01 over the next two days, taking the total figure to Rs 15.24 in its first weekend. The film made another Rs 6.27 during the next four weekdays.

Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to release the seven days figures of the Sanjay Gupta directorial.

“#Jazbaa [Week 1] Fri 4.23 cr, Sat 5.49 cr, Sun 5.52 cr, Mon 2.11 cr, Tue 1.69 cr, Wed 1.37 cr, Thu 1.17 cr. Total: ? 21.58 cr. India biz,” Taran posted on the micro-blogging site.

According to reports, ‘Jazbaa’ is receiving quite a good response in the international box office as well. It has reportedly collected a total of over Rs 11 crore at overseas box office in the first week.

‘Jazbaa’ showed a decent performance throughout the week and has been well received by audience. Being the first film of Aishwarya after a gap of five years and her motherhood, the movie created quite a buzz on the social media, which helped in its smooth performance at the theatres.

In the film, Aishwarya plays the role of a criminal lawyer and a single parent of a pre-teen girl who is kidnapped. She is forced to acquit a murder convict in order to get back her daughter. Irrfan Khan plays the role of a suspended police officer who helps Aishwarya in her mission.

The film also casts talented actors like Shabana Azmi, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Atul Agnihotri and Jackie Shroff.

Now Jazbaa has entered in its second week and is facing heavy competition due to the release of the comedy sequel film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’, which is getting positive reviews from audience as well as critics.
