‘Jazbaa’ hits screens: Six reasons to catch the show

Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Jazbaa’ is getting a solo release in theatres on October 9. The film has been making news ever since it was announced, and finally it is all set to be screened. Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles, the film is one of the biggest releases of this year and also a highly anticipated one, for obvious reasons. The film is said to be inspired from a South Korean film of 2007 titled ‘Seven Days’.

Here are six important reasons which make ‘Jazbaa’ a film worth a watch.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Former beauty queen Ashwarya Rai Bachchan will grace the silver screen after a long gap of five years. Last seen in 2010 film ‘Guzaarish’, the diva will appear in an all new avatar doing some high-octane action stunts. She plays the role of a criminal lawyer and single mother Anuradha Verma whose daughter is kidnapped and she is forced to defend in the court a person charged of brutally raping and murdering a woman, and she has got only seven days to do it.

Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan is a ‘method actor’ who knows the subtleties of acting. He has been praised for displaying exceptional talent. He has also appeared in international movies and gained global recognition. In ‘Jazbaa’ he plays the role of Yohan, a suspended police inspector who disregards old rules. In the film, the actor will be experimenting with his looks as well. He will be seen flamboyantly dressed in leather jackets and cool glares. He also gets to mouth some sassy and sarcastic dialogues.

Aishwarya-Irrfan pairing

Soojit Sircar’s film ‘Piku’ earlier this year saw the unusual pairing of the intense Irrfan Khan opposite ‘Deepika Padukone’ who is known for her glamorous roles. Similarly, ‘Jazbaa’ brings a fresh and unique pairing of the gorgeous Aishwarya and Irrfan. It will be interesting to see their on-screen equation. Although the film doesn’t show any kind of romance between the two, it gives a hint that their relationship might take a romantic angle later on.

Impressive supporting casts

Besides Aishwarya and Irrfan, ‘Jazbaa’ also stars Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni and Chandan Roy Sanyal – all of whom are super-talented actors. They have contributed to Indian cinema in different ways. The film also stars veteran actor Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhanth Kapoor, Cannadian actress of Indian origin Priya Banerjee and the adorable child artiste Sara Arjun who was seen in ‘Ek Thi Daayan’,

Sanjay Gupta

‘Jazbaa’ is Sanjay Gupta’s directorial venture after a gap of more than two years. His last outing ‘Shootout at Wadala’ was very well received and had a successful run at the box office. Sanjay’s forte is action and this time he has made Aishwarya, one of the most beautiful women on Earth, perform some never-seen-before action sequences. The film’s trailer also promises lots of thrill and excitement.

Film’s first look released on an international platform

The first look of ‘Jazbaa’ was unveiled at the 68th Cannes Film Festival held in April this year. A sequence from the film was screened at the prestigious international event in the presence of renowned celebrities from across the world. The film has already gained international recognition.

Reportedly, ‘Jazbaa’ is also going to be the first film to be released simultaneously in the neighbouring nation of Pakistan after Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
