Jacqueline replaces Deepika in Sujoy Ghosh's next

Sujoy Ghosh has become a much sought after director after his hit film ‘Kahaani’ (released in the year 2012) starring Vidya Balan. Therefore, it is natural that there will be immense interest in his next project. There were rumours from the tinsel town that Deepika Padukone will be part of the star cast in his next film.

Sujoy’s next project will have Saif Ali Khan as the leading actor. Fans were excited to hear that the hit pair of Deepika and Saif may return together on screen after their blazing success together in the movie ‘Cocktail’. The rumours started to spread after Sujoy visited the sets of ‘Piku’ in Kolkata, where Deepika and Amitabh Bachchan were shooting. Sujoy visited the sets only to have a chit chat session with the actors and director Shoojit Sircar. A source tells that, "Sujoy was in Kolkata on a short trip for a book launch he was attending. During his stay, he found out that Bachchan sir and Deepika were shooting there as well. Since he also knows Shoojit Sircar, the director of their film, he decided to land up on the sets. He sat there for a while as some scenes were being shot."

Sujoy himself denied all the rumours during an interview with the Hindustan Times by stating that, “No, I am not even considering her (Deepika) for my film.” Even a spokesperson from the production company denied the rumours of Deepika being in the film.

However, now it is learnt that Jacqueline Fernandez has been roped in to act opposite Saif in Sujoy’s new film. Incidentally Jacqueline has earlier worked with Sujoy Ghosh in the film ‘Aladin’ that released in the year 2009. Commenting on the issue Jacqueline said, "Yes, I have been approached by Sujoy. But it's too early to talk about it as the paper work is yet to be done. I am excited about reuniting with him (after Aladin; 2009) and sharing screen space with Saif."

Sujoy’s next film is based on a Japanese novel ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’. It belongs to the crime thriller genre. It seems that Sujoy is going to stick with his hit formula, as ‘Kahaani’ too was a crime thriller. According to the reports, producer Ekta Kapoor has already bought the rights of the book and she will be producing Sujoy’s film under the banner Balaji Telefilms. We can hardly wait for more details of the film to come up.
