Ishaan Khattar shoots for Majid Majidi’s film, Deepika not part of it

Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar has begun shooting for his debut film titled ‘Beyond the Clouds’ being directed by Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi, on Monday. Big brother Shahid confirmed the news on his Instagram by sharing a picture of him with Ishaan with the caption, “This ones ready to fly. Make us proud @ishaan95.”

However, contrary to previous reports, Ishaan will not be sharing screen with Deepika Padukone, as she is not a part of the movie. The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress had earlier done a look test, and her pictures in dishevelled hair and tattered clothes, along with the acclaimed filmmaker in Mumbai’s Dhobi Ghat, had also surfaced online last November. But She hasn’t been signed for the film.

Majidi himself announced this in press conference earlier today. “I want to work with Deepika. But for this film we thought we will go with all new faces. We decided so because we didn’t want a mixture of experienced and new faces. It was going to be either of the two (experienced or new faces). We settled for all new star cast,” the ‘Children of Heaven’ director said.

Majidi also formally introduced Ishaan as one of the new faces for the film called him a "wonderful boy" who is "extremely talented" and has a "bright future." The Iranian filmmaker has also roped in Academy Award winning music maestro A. R. Rahman for the project, with whom he had previously collaborated for the 2015 Islamic epic ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’.

"Filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, whose work I adore, have represented India's culture, rich heritage and the lives of common people to a global audience. These visions and images have stayed in my mind for years and cajoled me to make a film in India. Finally, I'm in Mumbai with a lovely team to narrate a story woven around the lives of common people," Majidi said.

‘Beyond the Clouds’, which was initially titled ‘Floating Gardens’, is said to be a story revolving around brother-sister relationship. The film will have Ishaan playing one of the protagonists who is deeply connected to the ground and to the city, producer Shareen Mantri Kedia said.

Being produced by Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films, ‘Beyond the Clouds’ will be shot across Mumbai and Jaipur.
