Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’ song ‘Dama Dama Dam’ is a take on the system

Irrfan Khan starrer social-thriller ‘Madaari’ has released its first song titled ‘Dama Dama Dam’. It is a powerful track sung by Vishal Dadlani and composed by Vishal Bhardwaj with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.

The song depicts the story of a ‘madaari’, symbolic of the system, and the ‘jamoora’, symbolising the 1.25 crore population. Whoever has the ‘damroo’ can make people dance to its tune. ‘One man will rule them all’ the video of the song says.

The lyrics are angst-ridden and fits the current state of politics and administration. Irffan is also seen lip-syncing to the song as her travels by train and bus, accompanied by a child.

The ‘Jazbaa’ actor plays the role of an emotional father who losses his child in an accident. In vengeance, he kidnaps a minister’s so that he is able to get justice for himself and well as other affected families. Jimmy Shergill plays the role of a police officer who is tasked with the investigation of the kidnapping.

The film has been directed by Nishikant Kamat who has previously given thrillers like ‘Drishyam’, ‘Dombivli Fast’ and ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’. The film has been shot all over the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Dehradhun, Rajasthan and Shimla. The film is based on Mumbai Metro bridge collapse which took place in suburban Marol in 2012.

‘Madaari’ is slated to release on July 15.
