In pics: Saira Banu takes Dilip Kumar home
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Mumbai Lilavati hospital on December 7th owing to swollen legs and cough and cold was finally dicharged from hospital. He headed to his house along with wife Saira Banu. He is doing much better now and will be resting at home.
Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu updated about his health. "We have brought him home today. He will be resting at home. He is recuperating, he is doing well. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers," the actor's wife and noted actress Saira Banu told PTI.
Fans and media thronged Lilavati hospital. Dilip Kumar wrapped a shawl around him and taken out of the hospital in a stretcher with doctors and hospital staff surrounded him. Saira, dressed in pink salwar waved at the media.
The thespian celebrated his 94th birthday in hospital on Sunday. Saira helped him to cut his birthday cake which was posted on social media.
Saira Banu's manager Murshid told news agency IANS on December 11 the actor spent his birthday in hospital. "He didn't get discharged today (Sunday). He will be in the hospital for a couple of days more. His swelling has also come down and he is under observation. He is likely to get discharged in the next two days. Since he is in the hospital, there are no birthday plans as such as of now," he said.Saira Bau, who was round the clock by the side of Dilip Saab, had explained the reason for Dilip’s hospitalisation, saying, “I was anyway planning to take him for a routine check-up, but the swelling alarmed me. He was also complaining of cold and cough. I don’t ignore anything even remotely suspicious when it comes to Dilip saab’s health. The doctors are examining him; he’s under observation. He’s very comfortable with the team here. I just hope there is nothing serious.”
Dilip Kumar, born Mohammad Yusuf Khan has delivered many blockbuster during his acting career. Madhumati, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam and Naya Daur to name a few. He was last seen in 1998 film Qila.He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. He was also awarded with Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
