Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha to sing in 'Rio 2'

Bollywood actors Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan lend their voices to the Hindi version of ‘Rio 2’, a sequel to the 2011 hit animation movie ‘Rio’. Sonakshi and Imran will be heard as the adorable and unforgettable macaws Jewel and Blu respectively for ‘Rio 2’.

Imran, who had a wonderful experience dubbing for the Hollywood film “Rio 2,” said he always admired animation films. And also said he had watched “Rio” and found it fantastic when it released in 2011.

The actor was quoted in the media as saying, “The macaw Blu is a complete delight onscreen and when I was approached to voice Blu in ‘Rio 2,’ I readily agreed to be a part of the film. Though I have always admired animations from a viewer’s point of view, this time with ‘Rio 2’ I learned about many fascinating elements that combine to make the final stellar film.”

“There are so many nuances that synergize beautifully, and it’s a completely different world when compared to other movies. I had fun while dubbing as I had the complete freedom of giving various reactions, expressions through my voice, which is different from Bollywood, where we re-enact our dialogues shot previously,” he said.

“I also got a chance to sing a few lines for Blu in the movie for a party sequence, which was an awesome moment,” he added.

“Rio 2,” one of the most awaited Hollywood movies in India, is an adventure comedy set in the Brazilian city of Rio De Janeiro. The movie will see the return of Blu, Jewel and their three chicks who leave their tame life for a journey to the Amazon rainforest.

While talking about the dubbing for the film Sonakshi reportedly said, “I love watching animation films, so when they approached me to lend my voice to the sequel of one of the most loved animations – Rio… I didn’t have to think twice! It’s a completely new experience for me and I’m very excited! It’s a treat not only for the kids, but families as well!”

Sonakshi is reportedly also singing in the film and she said, “I enjoyed dubbing for Rio 2 because it’s such a fun film firstly, and secondly because I felt like Imran and I were perfect for the characters of Blu and Jewel! Theres a scene where Jewel is dancing and singing so they made me sing a few lines as well! It was such a new experience, I would have even loved to sing more but unfortunately I am only just a bathroom singer!”

‘Rio 2’ in 3D is slated to release on April 11.
