I dreamt of doing action like dad: Abhishek

"I sprained my ankle and hurt my nose during an action scene in Dhoom. I've given my blood...
...for the film. Hope it works," Abhishek told IANS

He's about to take action very seriously. "In both my impending releases, Run and Yuva, I have rugged, action-oriented roles. I think this is what I've always wanted to do. Ever since I saw my dad (Amitabh) pulling those punches in Zanjeer, Sholay and the other films, I've secretly dreamt of doing the same. Now I guess at least some of my dreams are close to fruition."

Barring Revathi's Phir Milenge, where he plays a lawyer fighting for a cause, all of Abhishek's releases this year are action-oriented. "The range - from Ram Gopal Varma's Naach to Mani Ratnam's Yuva - is flattering," Abhishek admits. "I'm having a ball."

As for working with Revathi, he said: "It was wonderful shooting with her, my first woman director. And I felt so special. She mothered me throughout, and I really liked that." And what about fun during off-hours? "It's flattering and embarrassing to be linked with one or the other co-star all the time. I've loads of friends from both the sexes and I've loads of fun with all of them.

"Should I stop going out with my female friends just because I'm immediately linked with anyone I'm spotted with? Hey, journalists go out with their friends too. How come they aren't linked with everyone they're seen with?

"I'm specially concerned about the reputation of the ladies who are so wrongly being linked with me. The truth is I'm blissfully single, answerable only to my parents and enjoying every bit of my freedom."
