Huma Qureshi opposite Colin Firth in ‘The Viceroy House’


Huma Qureshi has been roped in by noted director Gurinder Chadha to act in her forthcoming film, ‘The Viceroy House’. Gurinder, who is best known for her movies like ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ and ‘Bride & Prejudice’ mainly makes film based on English background.

“She is doing the film. But we can’t reveal much details about the project including the role,” sources close to the 29-year-old actress said.

'The Viceroy House' will showcase British last days in India under the governance of Lord Mountbatten. It is a love story set in 1940. Along with political angle, the film also has a romantic angle.

Along with Indian star cast, the film will also have Hollywood actors. Colin Firth would be playing the role of Lord Mountbatten, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah will essay the character of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, while actor Saif Ali Khan will play the role of Jawaharlal Nehru. The film will also showcase India’s struggle for independence.

Currently, Huma is shooting in London for the remake of 2013 Hollywood film ‘Oculus’, which also stars her actor brother Saqib Saleem.

The film is based a brother-sister who get separated in childhood due to an antique mirror. Huma also ventured into regional film with ‘White’ an upcoming Malayalam film directed by Uday Ananthan in which she would play Kerala megastar Mammootty’s lady love.
