Hrithik-Kangana tiff: Kangana says police favouring Hrithik

A day after reports surfaced that Mumbai Police have traced Hrithik Roshan’s fake e-mail ID to a location in the US, Kangana Ranaut claimed that it is a false report and that police is favouring Hrithik.

In a letter to DCP Rajkumar of cyber-crime cell of Mumbai Police, the three-time National Award winning actress alleged that some police personnel were giving "false and misleading statements" to the media and in the process tarnishing her name, image and reputation. Kangana, through her lawyer Rizwaan Siddique, has asked the police department to immediately issue a clarification in this regard.

In his letter on behalf of Kangana, advocate Siddique questioned the police department on what grounds the cyber-crime cell issued a statement claiming that they have asked the actress to hand over her laptop. “It therefore appears that some anonymous police officer from your department is leaking such news to help Hrithik Roshan in image cleaning whilst thereby making malafide and mischievous efforts to prove to the world that my client has been communicating with some impostor,” he said in the letter.

The letter also asked that such “immoral, unethical and illegal actions” be probed by the department and disciplinary action be initiated against such officer(s).

Hrithik had in March filed an FIR with Mumbai Police’s cyber-crime cell against an unknown person for impersonating him and identity theft. In the complaint, he said that Kangana was communicating with the imposter operating a fake email ID in his name under the impression that she was interacting with the actor himself.

The letter also stated that Hrithik – as per his own claim - had knowledge about the alleged impostor in May 2014. Therefore, if he filed an informal complaint with the cyber-crime cell in December 2014 against the imposter, then the police should have investigated the matter as per the provisions of Section 154 of CrPc. Further, they should have summoned other witnesses and concluded the case.

Kangana and her lawyer have now asked the cyber-crime cell to hand over a copy of Hrithik’s FIR and all related documents “to enable her to determine the truth”.
