How Stars Celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi 2013

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great zeal in Mumbai and the glitterati of Bollywood are not immune to this huge festival. Moreover, the God Ganesha being the harbinger of success, the multibillion rupees industry can hardly overlook the divine intervention. Stars, regardless of their religion or personal differences, celebrated the festival in colorful ways.

Nana Patekar continues the tradition of the festival which was started five decades ago by his father. The actor stays at home with his family for the five day long pooja and he even paints the eyes of the idol himself. However, he thinks that everyone should celebrate the festival responsibly and without pollution. It is a big festival at his home and special decorators are invited each year to decorate the palki and light up the diyas.

Superstar Salman Kham is known for a number of quirks of his character, but he has faithfully celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi for the last decade at his home in Bandra Galaxy Apartment. However, this year, some renovations were going on at his home. so, he decided to celebrate from the home of his sister Arpita. In spite of the change of venue, it remained the glittering affair for which the Dabangg star has become famous.

Ganesh Chaturthi has also spread to the internet as the stars of Bollywood exchanged greetings on Twitter and Facebook. “Happy Ganesh Chathurthi. The Lord of New Beginnings! But every day, every moment is a new beginning. Unless you are a prisoner of the past,” said Shelhar Kapoor – the renowned filmmaker. Greetings were also forthcoming from Lara Dutta Bhupathi who tweeted, “May Lord Ganesh shower us all with his choicest blessings.” The twit of actor Aftab Sivdasani read, “Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganpati bappa moryaa!! Love and light.” Actress Director Pooja Bhatt turned nostalgic as she reminisced, "Ganesh Chaturthi reminds me of my grandmother Shireen Nanabhai Bhatt. She was a Muslim who inculcated in me a genuine love for Lord Ganesh,"

Almost all the Bollywood celebrities took part in the festival. Pooja and celebrations were held in the homes of  Jeetendra,  Rani Mukherjee, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Shreyas Talpade. People queued up to pay homage to the great Ganesh idol at the RK Studios in Chembur – one of the oldest poojas in the area. Kangana Ranaut celebrated the auspicious festival with a visit to the famed Siddhi Vinayak temple.
