‘Housefull 3’ enters Rs 100 cr club with its global collection; Akshay thanks fans

Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Housefull 3’ has minted Rs 100 crore in its worldwide box office on the opening weekend itself.

The film’s distributors Eros International made the announcement in an official statement. It said that the comedy flick has collected over Rs 100.03 crores ($15 million) across the globe in its opening weekend with Rs 73.02 crores gross (Rs.53.31 crores net box office) in India and Rs 27.01 crores overseas.

Directed by Sajid-Farhad, ‘Housefull 3’ is the third instalment of the comedy franchise produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The movie hit screens on June 3.

Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to thank his fans for making the film a huge success and posted a still from the film in which Akshay, Riteish and Abhishek are seen with clasped hands. “With folded hands #HF3 gang would like 2 say the BIGGEST THANK YOU 2 all the Fans 4 makin #Housefull3 a HUGE SUCCESS,” the actor wrote.

‘Housefull 3’ is the second film of the year to take its worldwide box office collection to more than Rs. 100 crore in its first weekend. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ had also entered the Rs 100 crore club in opening weekend overseas.

The movie has also become the highest opening weekend grosser at the domestic box office surpassing Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Fan’, Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Baaghi’ and Akshay’s own ‘Airlift’.

The ensemble starcast of ‘Housefull 3’ also featured Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Boman Irani, Chunkey Pandey and Jackie Shroff.
