Rajnath Singh assures 'Great Diwali' for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'
Raj Thackery-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has threatened of vandalism at theatres screening the movie starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma. In view of the threats, a delegation of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, led by its president Mukesh Bhatt, met the Home Minister to request for a trouble-free screening of the film.
Rajnath Singh told the delegation that though the home ministry had no direct role in the matter as ‘law and order’ is the responsibility of state governments, he would convey their concerns to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, when they will meet in Mumbai on Friday (Oct.21) for a meeting to discuss inter-state matters.
"The Home Minister assured that the state government was committed to ensuring that law and order is not disrupted during screening of the film at theatres," a leading daily quoted a Ministry official as saying.
The meeting between Rajnath Singh and the Bollywood producers was arranged by Minister of State and playback singer Babul Supriyo, who also accompanied them. "Though Singh knew security for the film screening fell within jurisdiction of the state government, he agreed to hear their concerns in view of their repeated requests for an appointment. These concerns shall be conveyed to the state government for further action," an official added.
Though Karan Johar was supposed to be part of the delegation, he could not make it due to some other engagements.
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is slated to hit screens on October 28.
