Hits and misses at the 58th Filmfare award

Fashion and Bollywood have always gone hand in hand. Bollywood celebrities thus are always in the lookout to make a grand fashion statement that will help them outnumber their contemporaries. Media also keeps a hawk’s eye on them scrutinizing their every fashion move. Every outing of these celebrities is judged and labeled as trendy, boring or a misfit.

Recently at the 58th Filmfare Awards’ Red Carpet event many celebrities were spotted thronging in. Some gave us sore eyes while other soothed them.

Most of the men stuck to black for the award’s night. Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Siddharth Malhotra, Siddharth Roy Kapoor  and Ranveer Singh were all seen in boring black outfits.

Karan Johar chose to be different at the event as he wore a white suit. Ileana D’Cruz who won the debutant award (female) for the film “Barfi!” wore a Cavalli gown. Priyanka Chopra chose an Armani sea-blue coloured gown for the event in which she looked beautiful.  Her sister Parineeti Chopra wore a boring black outfit by Rajat Tongri.

Deepika Padukone turned out to be the only celebrity who made black look sexy on the red carpet. She wore a Prabal Gurung number and complemented it with heels from Christian Louboutin. She sure stated with her poise that none can carry a gown in B-town like she does.

“Inkaar” actress Chritangada Singh chose a saree by Anand Kabra. This was a refreshing change from the gowns and dresses at the awards ceremony.

Aditi Rao Hydari who will be seen in “Murder 3” soon looked beautiful in a grey silver colored saree at the awards function.

Anushka Sharma won best supporting role award (female) for “Jab Tak Hain Jaan”. She is being bombarded with the tag anorexic for long. Anorexic or no, but she is looking overtly thin for sure.  At the Filmfare Awards she wore a flowing yellow gown.

Sridevi chucked her sarees for an orange gown in which she looked demure. However, her contemporary Madhuri Dixit stole the thunder from her in a blingy Alberto Makali gown.

Alia Bhatt looked perfect in Manish Malhotra’s creation. Her SOTY co-star Varun Dhawan looked debonair in Archana Walvekar’s creation. Unlike the rest he chose a maroon jacket that added the much needed spark.

Yami Gautam chose Tarun Tahiliani corset lehenga in which she simply looked beautiful. Vidya Balan sported the same old look. She chose a Sabyasachi saree in which she looked plain boring.

The disaster at the red carpet event was Amrita Rao. She wore a horrendous purple colored flowing skirt and teamed it up with a white jacket.
