Hema Malini injured in car collision; five-year-old girl killed


Actress-turned-politician Hema Malini was injured and a five-year-old girl was killed in an accident when the actress’ Mercedes collided with another car in Dausa district of Rajasthan on Thursday (July 2). The actress has been rushed to the Fortis hospital in Jaipur for treatment.

The occupants of the other car included two woman, two children and a man. While on child was killed, others were seriously injured and were taken to a hospital in Dausa. Two of them, including a child were later referred to SMSC Hospital in Jaipur.

The actress who was sitting at the front passenger seat received injuries to her forehead. Doctors at the Fortis hospital performed a CT scan and other tests. She received a few stitches on her forehead and is said to be fine.

The BJP MP from Mathura was returning to Jaipur after a visit to the Mehendipur Balaji temple when the incident happened.

The accident occurred on National Highway 11 near Dausa Midway at around 9 PM. The Mercedes was speeding and the driver of the Alto may not have been paying attention while entering the section of the Highway, police said, adding the vehicles involved in the accidents have been seized.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje took to Twitter to inform that her government was making efforts to provide medical care to the victims. “Deeply saddened by the news of Dausa accident. I pray for the victims?. We're making all efforts to provide immediate relief & medical care,” Raje posted.
