‘Half Girlfriend’ goes on floors; Arjun Kapoor’s first look revealed


Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film ‘Half Girlfriend’ went on floors today, June 8. Directed by Mohit Suri, the love story is a big screen adaption of celebrity writer Chetan Bhagat’s eponymous novel.  

Chetan himself will be co-producing the film with Ekta Kapoor. Arjun is reuniting with the author for the second time on an adaptation of his book, the first being ‘2 States’ in which he starred opposite Alia Bhatt. The 30-year-old actor will play the role of a National-level basketball player, Madhav Jha in the film. He has been training with a basketball team from USA to perfect the sport.

Chetan took to Twitter to announce the beginning of ‘Half Girlfriend’ shoot and shared a picture of Arjun playing basketball. “Hi Guys, Meet Madhav Jha. #HalfGirlfriend starts shoot today in Delhi. ATB @mohit11481 @arjunk26 @ShraddhaKapoor!” the bestselling author tweeted.

Arjun also shared a topless picture of him with a basketball on Instagram and wrote, ‘And so it begins... #halfgirlfriend #basketball @mohitsuri @shraddhakapoor Let's Play !!!’

Shraddha will be seen in the role of an affluent Delhi girl named Riya. For her as well, it will be her second movie that is adapted from a book, the other one being Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’ which was based on William Shakespeare tragedy ‘Hamlet’. She will be uniting with director Mohit for the third time after ‘Ashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’.

Half Girlfriend’ is a love story of a Bihari boy and an upper society girl. Based on the backdrop of how English defines a class system, it talks about Madhav, who wants a relationship with the high society, urban and English speaking Riya, but the girl is not interested in commitment. Hence she becomes his half girlfriend.

The movie will be shot in varied locations from Bihar, Delhi to New York.
