It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey. It is not based on any character."

Slated to release on Independence Day, August 15 ‘Gold’ features Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal apart from Akshay Kumar.

The story is set on the backdrop of India winning its first gold medal in hockey as a free nation in the 1948 Summer Olympics.
