‘Gold’ first look: Akshay Kumar set to rock in another patriotic film

After starring is films like ‘Baby’, ‘Airlift’, ‘Rustom’, Akshay Kumar is set rock in another patriotic film titled ‘Gold’, the first look of which was released on Friday, October 21.

To be directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment, ‘Gold’ tells the story of India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at the 14th Olympiad in London.

Akshay released the first look of the film on Twitter by writing, “Set in 1948, the historic story of India's first Olympic medal as a free nation, #GOLD coming to you on 15th August, 2018!"

Producer Farhan Akhtar also tweeted the poster of the film Gold and wrote, "The story of when India won its first Olympic #Gold medal as an independent nation. Coming 2018.."

The first look poster of ‘Gold’ features an Olympic gold medal set against the backdrop of the Indian national flag.

The Olympic Gold medal was brought home by the hockey team, led by Kishan Lal. Though it was the the fourth consecutive win at Olympics, it was the first time for independent India in 1948.

Akshay is keeping his date with Independence. His ‘Rustom’ released on Independence Day weekend this year. Next year, his film ‘Crack’ directed by Neeraj Pandey is set to release on the occasion, while ‘Gold’ has blocked the day the following year – 2018.
